11/28/2023 0 Comments Mtg pioneer dredgeIf your playing casually whether fnm or just for fun then by all means play what you want and don't worry what others think.Ībout this deck specifically I actually have it in paper and played numerous fnms over the last 6 months and I have a few thoughts: driven // despair absolutely has to be in the deck, its great for an aggro start and its a tsudo finisher/gives evasion to get in the last pts of dmg I wouldnt be caught with less than 3. You just get collateral damage sideboards from people teching for greasefang. So the best advice I ever heard was don't play the 2nd best graveyard deck in the format. What do you think of the list? Is dredgeless dredge viable in the meta? If not, what do you think its missing? I'm not expecting it to be Tier 1, but I hope to at least see it win some games. Sideboard is a bit of a mess, since I'm not familar enough with the format and don't know what decks to expect at my LGS, but rough ideas include Trophy in for Leylines or other hate cards, Leylines against other graveyard decks (Not sure how important it is against Greasefang), Necromentia vs combo (like Lotus Strings), Driven//Despair can be brought in against creatures decks where menace is relevant and Marsh/Brutality are more placeholders that can be brought in flexibly. I played Otherworldly Gaze at first, but decided to cut it so as to not be as reliant on blue. Mana is mainly just black/green, with just a splash of blue if you need to cast Amalgam/Narcomoeba. Angler can just be a big dork for 1 mana or it can enable Decimator, which can be a solid finisher. Haunted dead is also excellent to ditch cards you want in the yard and combos really well with Amalgams. Supplier, Gather, Wayfinder and Salvage can fill the yard pretty good, free Amalgams and Narcomoebas as well as Creeping Chill, and Scrounger/Haunted Dead as recursion. Here's the list I'm currently trying out. I tried making something that could capture the same feeling as playing dredge, but I'm not sure how viable it is in the format. ![]() Obviously there are no actual dredge cards in pioneer, but quite a lot of the creatures and dredge-like effects ofcource exist. I've mainly played Modern for many years now, mainly dredge, and since I've played dredge in all other formats I wanted to try it in pioneer as well. ![]() I've begun looking at pioneer a bit, since my LGS has begun some tournaments.
